Charlton vs Brentford Betting Tips

The pressure is really on Guy Luzon to get a result in this game after a run of 9 matches without a win in all competitions and only 2 points from the last 8 in the league. The manner of some of the defeats has been particularly concerning and the worst of the bunch came in midweek when they were humbled 3-0 at home by fellow strugglers Preston.

The result has left Charlton in the relegation zone and August must now seem a long time ago for the Israeli manager. His side are now 4 points below Brentford who made the decision to sack their manager earlier in the month and new boss Lee Carsley has got off to a good start.

They have won their two league matches since the international break with a 2-1 win over Rotherham last weekend prior to an impressive 2-0 victory at Wolves in midweek. They are looking a lot more like the side that reached the play-offs last season and although that might be a bridge too far this, they will be confident of extending their winning run at the Valley.

This is a London derby but it isn’t one of the more fiercely contested ones although a sizable travelling contingent should head from West to South East London for this game and given the contrasting recent performances of these two, Brentford look really good value to send them home happy with a win at 17/10.

Since their 2-1 win over Hull in August, Charlton have conceded on average 2 goals per game and they haven’t really been that threatening at the other end and are without a goal in their last two matches. Brentford put in an excellent defensive performance at Molineux to keep a clean sheet against a Wolves side that has some dangerous attacking players.

There is no reason why they can’t do likewise against troubled Charlton and they are worth a punt at 12/1 to win this 2-0.
