Chaves vs Moreirense Predictions
Eight places and nine points separate bottom of the Primeira Liga Chaves and their guests on Saturday mid table Moreirense, but the head to head record between the two clubs is level and we’re expecting a close and competitive game this weekend.
Last weekend Chaves gave Belenenses a tough game at the Estádio Nacional, but still ended up on the wrong end of a 1-0 scoreline. Licá scored what turned out to be the winning goal for the hosts in the fortieth minute, despite having 56% of the possession, more corners, and more shots than Belenenses during the ninety minutes. Poor finishing cost Chaves once again and leaves them rooted to the bottom of the table with just seven points from their twelve games.
Moreirense were also beaten 1-0 last weekend when they played host to Santa Clara. This heated match saw nine yellow cards and one red handed out by referee André Narciso, who certainly had his work cut out for him. The hosts saw more of the ball and created more chances than their guests, but were punished for their misses when Zé Manuel turned in the games only goal early in the second half. Things went from bad to worse for the hosts in the seventy-seventh minute when Ivanildo Fernandes picked up his second yellow card of the match and received his marching orders.
When these two sides last met in February Moreirense were the hosts, but it was Chaves who claimed all three points. A tight and tense first half ended goalless as both teams struggled to break the other down in the final third. Belkaroui was shown a straight red card for Moreirense in the seventy-first minute which thrust the control of the match to Chaves, and three minutes later Belarus international Bressan converted a penalty which won the game for the visitors.
Moreirense head into Saturday’s match as the clear form favourites with four wins and two defeats from their last six matches, while their hosts are in polar opposite form winning two of their last six and losing the other four. Both teams top scorers in the league this season have managed three goals so far, Ghazaryan for the hosts and Pedro Nuno for the visitors.
We’re confident that Under 2.5 goals will be scored in this game, and have backed Moreirense to claim a narrow 1-0 win. Four of the last six matches between these two clubs have produced under 2.5 goals, while three of Chaves’ last four and four of Moreirense’s last six games have also produced under 2.5 goals.
