      Chelsea vs Inter Milan Predictions

The International Champions Cup continues this weekend as some of Europe’s biggest clubs face off in this pre-season friendly tournament, and on Saturday evening the action descends on Nice, France. Chelsea and Inter Milan will face off in the Allianz Riviera, with new Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri very familiar with the opposition after his time in charge of Napoli.

Chelsea got their pre-season off to a winning start on Monday when they beat Perth Glory 1-0 in Australia, but all things told it was a rather disappointing affair from an entertainment standpoint. Pedro opened the scoring after just five minutes, and with the likes of Alvaro Morata, Ross Barkley, and Cesc Fabregas all present we were expecting the goals to flow from that point. Unfortunately for the neutrals no more came, but Sarri will be happy to have got his reign off to a winning start.

The Blues new £57 million signing, Jorginho, made his debut in that game and will be hoping for another start here. There are plenty of first team players in Chelsea’s travelling squad too, with Marcos Alonso, David Luiz, and Davide Zappacosta all starting, as well as the more advanced players mentioned above.

Inter Milan were also in action earlier this week, but their trip to Brammal Lane wasn’t exactly a successful one. They drew 1-1 with Sheffield United, but the main issue was a nasty looking injury to left back Dalbert after just 11 minutes. The Brazilian needed oxygen on the pitch and will be ruled out here.

The Serie A giants do have plenty of other first team experience to draw upon though. Star man Mauro Ircardi started up front, with the newly signed Lautaro Martinez out on the right as Luciano Spalletti continues to search for his ideal position. The Argentine forward has appeared in all four of Inter’s pre-season friendlies so far, scoring just 16 minutes into his debut against Lugano and netting the equaliser in a 3-3 draw with Zenit.

The Italians haven’t exactly been impressive in pre-season though. They have won just one of their four matches, and they’re facing a Chelsea side who are looking to prove a point. Sarri will want to keep his winning start going, and the star names in their squad will be itching to get out there after enduring a month watching the World Cup from the sidelines. We think a Chelsea win looks a good value bet here, especially after Inter Milan’s poor results in pre-season, so we’re backing that along with a 2-1 correct score predictions.
