Chelsea to Win and Under 3.5 Match Goals
Reasoning
Chelsea vs Port Vale Predictions
- Port Vale have failed to score in four of their last six matches
- Chelsea are winless in four outings, failing to score in each of the last three
- Five of Chelsea’s last eight matches have featured no more than three goals
- Pedro Neto has scored four goals in three FA Cup appearances this term
Blues set for show of strength
Chelsea hit the skids prior to the recent international break but they should get back on track with a comfortable victory in their FA Cup quarter-final with League One strugglers Port Vale.
The Blues are winless in five matches and the start of that sequence was a draw with Wrexham in the FA Cup which ended with a 4-2 Chelsea victory after extra-time to set up this last-eight clash with the Valiants.
It’s been a tough schedule for the west London side who were dumped out of the Champions League by PSG while slipping down the Premier League following losses to Newcastle and Chelsea, but they should be too strong for a Vale outfit on the brink of relegation from League One.
Liam Rosenior’s side have failed to score in their last three outings so backing a Chelsea win featuring no more than three goals looks the best course of action.
Unhappy ending to Vale fairytale
Chelsea’s strength in depth should prove key in this contest but their loss of form has been quite alarming, particularly in the 3-0 loss at Everton last time out, so a high-scoring home win looks highly unlikely with confidence at a low ebb in the Blues camp.
Goals have been hard to come by for both sides recently so backing a 3-0 home win looks the best course of action for correct-score punters.
Port Vale have failed to score in four of their last six matches, while five of Chelsea’s last eight fixtures have featured no more than three goals, so aiming for a lower total looks a sensible play.
Chelsea have fired blanks in their last three outings and it may take them time to find their shooting boots against a League One side who are likely to set up being hard to break down.
Neto can hit the net once more
Pedro Neto is Chelsea’s leading scorer in this season’s FA Cup and he looks a decent bet to add to his tally on Saturday.
The Portuguese forward plundered a hat-trick in the 4-0 win at Hull and has bagged ten goals in all competition’s this term.
It would be no surprise to see Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior name a strong side for this match as they look to quickly get back on track and that could offer star men such as Neto more chances to shine, so backing him to get on the scoresheet could be rewarded.
