Chelsea vs Sunderland Betting Tips

It was only a matter of time for Jose Mourinho. The first half of the season has gone dreadfully for Chelsea and a less legendary manager would undoubtedly have been dispatched off much sooner.

But now Chelsea look towards Guus Hiddink as his likely successor, and will be hoping he can guide them out of the mess that they’re in.

Chelsea come into this game having won just one of their last seven Premier League fixtures, losing five times and dropping ever closer to the relegation zone.

They currently sit in 16^th position in the table, and they’re only two points clear of the relegation zone. Sunderland are one of the occupants of these unwanted positions, with their points tally sitting on 12 points after 16 games. A win for the visitors could see them move out of the drop spots.

Sunderland have shown improvement recently though. They have won two of their last five Premier League games and performed admirably in defeats to Arsenal and Southampton.

Their defence is the main problem though, with them having the capability of collapsing at any moment and shipping a huge amount of goals.

The Chelsea players will be determined to show their new manager, whoever that might be, why they deserve a place in the first team.

But Sunderland won’t lie down either. They are desperate to escape the drop zone and will be doing everything they can to take advantage of Chelsea’s plight.

I think this head to head, with both teams desperate for a win, could produce a very entertaining game of football, and I’m expecting a good amount of goals as both sides take advantage of the shoddy defence in front of them.

This makes odds of 4/5 for Over 2.5 Match Goals look god value for money, and I’m also going to lump for a 3-1 Chelsea win at 12/1 as they up their game to impress the new boss.
