Chelsea vs Swansea Predictions
Chelsea’s march towards domestic dominance continued last weekend as they comfortably beat Wolves 2-0 away from home to progress in the FA Cup. This was a welcome bounce back from them being held at the impressive Burnley the weekend before in the Premier League and extends their unbeaten streak to eight matches in all competitions.
Six of these have been victories, and that 2-0 defeat at Spurs back at the start of January is their only defeat in their last 19 matches in all competitions. In the Premier League they have won 16 of their last 19 games, helping them to build an eight point lead at the top of the table. Without any European distractions they look a shoe in for the title.
Admittedly they have started to dip a little away from home recently, with their defeat to Spurs and their draws against Liverpool and Burnley. At Stamford Bridge they are almost completely dominant since Antonio Conte switched to his three at the back setup. They have won 11 on the bounce there in all competitions, keeping seven clean sheets and scoring a huge 35 goals at the other end.
Nine of these 11 victories have seen them win by at least two goals, thanks to their extremely well balanced side. Going forward, Eden Hazard has been making the difference at Stamford Bridge, netting eight of his ten league goals there in just 12 appearances. This makes odds of 6/5 for him to score anytime look the best option for our goalscorer predictions.
There’s no doubt that Swansea have improved since Paul Clement took charge, and they have won three of their last four games. However, they are still a relegation threatened side going up against the dominant title favourites. They have lost nine of their last 12 away days in all competitions, and even with a new manager and a renewed sense of belief, that sort of form doesn’t disappear overnight.
On the balance of things, I’m expecting Chelsea to get another comfortable win here, and odds of 1.725 for a Chelsea -1.5 Asian Handicap win look good value for money, as do odds of 7/1 for a 3-0 correct score predictions.
