Tip Reasoning
Chelsea suffered another setback last weekend as they were deservedly beaten 2-0 away to Manchester United, casting further doubt over their Premier League title credentials. The only team currently looking capable of catching them in the title race is Tottenham though, which makes this a huge clash despite it being in the FA Cup. Whichever team clinches their spot in the FA Cup Final will also gain a potentially crucial psychological advantage heading into the title run in.
Despite Chelsea’s two recent defeats their form is by no means in poor shape at the moment. They have won seven of their last nine games in all competitions, and in the FA Cup this season they have beaten Peterborough, Brentford, Wolves, and Manchester United, scoring 11 goals and conceding just one in the process.
Tottenham are the form team in the country at the moment though. They battered Bournemouth last weekend to take themselves to within four points of the Premier League leaders, with that victory making it eight wins on the bounce and ten games unbeaten in all competitions. They have scored an impressive 33 goals in this run of games, conceding six at the other end.
The FA Cup has seen them match Chelsea’s record of impressive wins, beating Aston Villa, Wycombe, Fulham, and Millwall on their road to the semi finals, scoring 15 goals and conceding three at the other end.
Both of these teams posses a solid back line, but I expect the attacking talents will outweigh that defensive solidity. Chelsea have failed to score in just one of their last 16 matches in all competitions, whilst Tottenham have scored in each of their last ten games.
Chelsea have conceded in seven of their last eight matches as well, so odds of 4/5 for Both Teams to Score look excellent value. Tottenham look like the far better side at the moment, and I think they could potentially land a crucial blow and get the win here, so I’m backing a 2-1 correct score predictions at 9/1.
It’s also worth considering backing Harry Kane to score anytime at 13/10 for our goalscorer predictions. The lethal Spurs striker has scored three goals in five games against Chelsea and has an incredible 23 domestic goals in 26 appearances this season.
