Chesterfield vs AFC Wimbledon Predictions

Chesterfield secured their first win of 2017 last Saturday as they overcame fellow strugglers Coventry by the narrowest of margins, but it’s hard to feel overly confident that they’ll kick-on, such was their form prior to that result. Wimbledon haven’t exactly set the world alight recently – they crashed out of the FA Cup against non-league opposition in mid-week – but they are unbeaten in three league matches, winning last time out against Oxford.

For a team who’re struggling near the foot of the table, Chesterfield actually have a surprisingly respectable home record lately and shouldn’t be discounted here at all, especially since Wimbledon haven’t been great on their travels lately. At odds of 5/4, ‘Chesterfield Draw No Bet’ actually makes plenty of appeal.

Wimbledon might have won last time out in the league, but they were disappointing during the week and have struggled for goals of late, particularly on the road. Having failed to win any of their last three away games in the league, the visitors are without a goal away from Kingsmeadow since the end of October – a scoreless run that stretches back five away matches (league).

Wimbledon’s poor form away from the comforts of home is certainly encouraging, while the hosts are actually doing OK at home. Beating Coventry last time out isn’t likely to raise any eyebrows, but they kept a clean sheet in a draw against MK Dons and beat Bolton prior to that.

Three home clean sheets on the spin bodes very well for Chesterfield, especially since Wimbledon are misfiring when playing away. All things considered, the price offered on ‘Chesterfield Draw No Bet’ simply underestimates the home side and this is certainly a bet to go for.
