Chicago Fire vs Houston Dynamo Betting Tips & Predictions

Chicago Fire showed some promising signs of improvement in their opening day 4-3 defeat to New York City, and the fans dared to hope that they would be able to improve on last season’s bottom of the table finish.

However, they may have hoped too soon. They did manage to go on a four match unbeaten streak after the opening game of the season, with one win and three draws giving them a return of six points. However, since then they have lost four and drawn one of their last five matches.

This leaves them in a familiar position: At the bottom of the MLS Eastern Conference. They have picked up just seven points from their opening ten games and are already lagging 9th position by three points.

Houston Dynamo also reside at the bottom of their MLS Conference, although their return of 11 points from 11 games is slightly better than their hosts.

The visitors have also shown signs of improvement recently. They ended a run of six games without a win at the beginning of May with a 2-0 win over Sporting Kansas City and they have Real Salt Lake on Sunday to make it two wins from their last three games. Their other victory this season came in an unexpected 5-0 thrashing of FC Dallas, and it’s frustrating that they can’t produce performances like that more regularly.

However, away from home Houston Dynamo really struggle. They have lost all five of their away days this season and they are currently on a ten match losing streak on the road. They haven’t won an away match since July either, so Chicago Fire have a real chance of picking up some points on Saturday.

The hosts have managed to win at home this season and have improved of late with draws against Columbus Crew and DC United, so I think they’ll be able to get the three points on Saturday. Odds of 5/4 for Houston Dynamo’s awful losing streak to continue look good value, and I’m also going for a 1-0 correct score prediction at 15/2.
