      Chievo vs Genoa Predictions

Chievo lost to Serie A’s bottom club Verona in their last Serie A match, so head coach Rolando Maran will be seeking a reaction from his players. The Clivensi have a lot of important players returning to fitness, not least Riccardo Meggiorini, but Maran may favour a cautious approach in order to avoid defeat.

Genoa defied their poor Serie A form to beat Udinese 2-1 at home last time out, but the absence of top striker Leonardo Pavoletti is likely to make life hard for Gian Piero Gasperini. Pavoletti has been responsible for 10 of the 27 goals Genoa have managed to score in Serie A so far this season. Both these teams could be anxiously looking over their shoulder at the relegation zone as the bottom half of the table, as ever, is extremely tight.

      Reason for Betting Tips

Neither of these sides go into the match in particularly good form, so perhaps a draw is the most likely result. Chievo and Genoa have both only won one of their last six matches, although Genoa’s 2-1 victory against Udinese could give their players the confidence to cope without striker Pavoletti. It is tempting to tip under 2.5 goals given both these teams have found life in front of goal hard of late, but the draw priced at 2/1 with bet365 stands out as the best available bet for this mid-table clash. For a correct score, a 1-1 draw at 9/2 is not a particularly bold pick, but it does look the likeliest result on the day.

      Head-to-Head

Chievo have won 50% of their last six home matches against Genoa, but the visitors have triumphed in two of their last three trips to the Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi. Last season, Genoa took the points with a 2-1 win, with Alessandro Matri and Mauricio Pinilla on target despite Ervin Zukanovic giving Chievo the lead.

      Statistics

Genoa have only won one of their last 13 away matches in Serie A but they broke their poor form with a victory against Udinese in their last fixture. Genoa have only scored 27 goals this season, 10 of which have come from injured striker Leonardo Pavoletti.

      Team News

Chievo: Suspensions rule out Nicolás Spolli and Giampiero Pinzi, while Alessandro Gamberini and Simone Pepe are injured. Riccardo Meggiorini is fit again but Antonio Floro Flores and Roberto Inglese may be preferred in attack.

Genoa: Cristian Ansaldi’s speedy recovery means he should be passed fit to return at left-back, but key striker Leonardo Pavoletti is injured and defender Armando Izzo is suspended.
