Chievo vs Juventus Predictions

Juventus had a Champions League setback in midweek, but they’ve got little to worry about domestically. While their players are clearly aiming for European glory this term, a side of their quality is expected to take the Italian title. Given that they’ve poached the top players from their biggest challengers, they have to land the Scudetto.

The Italian champions moved four points clear at the top last weekend. They carry the best record both home and away in Italy right now. Juve have won three out of five away, suffering two defeats in trips to Milan to face AC and Inter. Outside of Milan, they’ve been in excellent form, hitting 23 goals in total.

That number should rise now they have Gonzalo Higuain back in scoring form. He went on a little barren spell, but he was clearly boosted by his winner against former club Napoli. He followed that up by scoring against Lyon in midweek. That Champions League clash saw Max Allegri switch to a 4-3-1-2 in order to incorporate two out and out strikers in his side. That experiment didn’t work out, and now they’re going back to one up top.

Obviously Higuain will be that one, their £75million striker is obviously their main man. He’s expected to start once again, supported by Juan Cuadrado and Mario Mandzukic out wide. After a good week, we’re expecting him to add to his tally with a strike against Chievo. The Argentine is priced at 8/11 with bet365 to score any time in this one. He should have plenty of chances, as Chievo concede 11 shots against them per game, while Juve create 17 chances a match.

Chievo were the surprise package in Serie A this season, but that’s started to fade of late. After a 3-1 defeat at home to AC Milan, they’ve fallen away in the race for Europe. They are now four games without a win, while they’ve scored just once since that Milan defeat.

The hosts have hit a goal per game so far, but that record isn’t likely to improve this week. Juventus concede just 0.6 goals per match away. They are actually better at defending on the road, with 62% of their goals coming in Turin. The rest have been scored in Milan. Outside of their defeats at the Milan clubs, they’ve yet to concede an away goal.

All of their away victories have come to nil, plus they won to nil in their last two away games against Chievo. We’re backing the same again, with a win and clean sheet for the champions priced at 21/20 with bet365.
