Chievo vs Pescara Predictions

Last weekend saw a huge moment for Pescara, as they won their first match of the season. Their only victory came after a void result against Sassuolo, when the Neroverdi fielded an ineligible player. Straight after sacking Massimo Oddo, the Delfini saw Zdenek Zelman record a 5-0 win over Genoa in his first game back in charge. That was an incredible turnaround, one which made news around the world. The question is how can they follow up on that thumping win? Will they be able to see off Chievo this weekend?

Pescara are heading to Chievo hoping for their first away win, outside of that Sassuolo result. They’re taking on a side who have lost five of their 13 here, recording just four victories. That dismal return surely gives the Delfini the chance to record another three points. The hosts have won just one of their last six here, failing to claim three points in any of their last four. Pescara should have been an easy target for the Gialloblu, but now they seem like tough opposition.

Oddo had his Pescara side fighting, but they didn’t seem good enough to compete at this level. They were scoring goals, but their awful defensive record was letting them down. That makes their clean sheet against Genoa just as important as their five goal haul. The manner of that win showed some huge improvement, just a week after the Delfini were trailing Torino 5-0. To make that result even more impressive, Genoa have conceded four times in their four meetings with the current top three in Serie A.

Chievo have conceded 1.46 goals per game, failing to keep a clean sheet in 69% of their matches at home. Their recent record has been awful, conceding 10 times in their last four matches at the Marc’Antonio Bentegodi. That should see Pescara continue their scoring record against a weak defence. After all, they’ve not got a bad record in front of goal on their troubles. They’ve found the net in five of their last six trips, scoring eight times in those matches. They average over a goal per game, and they should add to their tally on Sunday.

The only problem for Pescara this season is that they’re yet to score a goal in the first half away from home. They’ve scored 100% of their goals on their travels after half-time. Chievo concede 58% of their goals after the break, while 11 of their last 17 goals against at home have come in the second period. That should see the Delfini continue their strong scoring form in the second half of their matches. While backing the second half to be Pescara’s highest scoring 45 minutes is good value at 13/8 with bet365, we’re playing things a little safer. A second half goal for the visitors is 10/11 with bet365, which is our main tip.
