Chile vs Venezuela Predictions

  • Eight of Chile’s ten points in qualifying have been gained in Santiago (W2, D2, L1).
  • La Roja have posted wins and clean sheets in two of their last four home starts.
  • Venezuela have lost all five of their away qualifiers, failing to score in three.

Chile clinging on

Chile ended their miserable six match winless run with a 2-0 victory over Paraguay here at the weekend and La Roja should follow-up when they entertain bottom side Venezuela in Santiago this Friday.

Chile’s win against Los Guaranies on Sunday just about kept their World Cup hopes alive, though they will surely be extinguished should they fail to see off the Venezuelans on Matchday 12. La Roja are still five points in arrears of fifth place, and they’ll likely need to post at least five wins from their last seven qualifiers to have a chance of sneaking into the Inter-Confederation Play-Off.

La Roja still solid in Santiago

Despite their woeful campaign overall, Chile have been fairly solid in Santiago with two wins and two draws posted from five starts, and Sunday’s success against Paraguay also brought up their second clean sheet at home.

While Venezuela have pushed Brazil close and beaten Ecuador during the past week, both of those efforts came in Caracas and La Vinotinto are nothing like the same force on their travels. They’ve lost all five of their away qualifiers, failing to score in three, and we think they’ll draw a blank in defeat once more here.

A home win to nil definitely makes greater appeal than backing Chile in the 1X2 market alone at 2/5 based on the visitors’ lack of goals and with Venezuela shipping ten across their five away matches, we’re also going for a 2-0 result in the correct score market, which will ensure the Chileans stay within touch moving into the final six rounds of qualifying.
