With two wins from two at the World Cup, England’s women sit top of Group D and they’re assured of progression with a point in their final game against China. However, their opponents are also in the running to make the next round and they’re hoping to build on a 1-0 victory over Haiti.

China were able to keep things close in a 1-0 loss to Denmark, while the Lionesses have won both of their games in Australia by narrow 1-0 scorelines so far. Another no-fills win would take them into the next round as group winners, but could this be the game where they kick on?

Three Lions to hit their stride

At the Euros a year ago England made a similar start, seeing off Austria 1-0 in their opening game. They stepped things up from there, going on to score 21 times across their next five contests.

While China have kept things close to far, they did concede twice to Colombia in a warm-up game and their 3-0 loss to Spain and 4-1 defeat to Sweden earlier this year suggest they struggle to match the world’s top sides. As a result, the European champions can rack up the goals in an improved performance, making over 2.5 goals appeal here.
