Despite that 2-1 victory away at Lyon, Clermont have taken only five points from eight games with them having drawn one and lost three of their opening four matches on home soil.

A goalless draw with Paris St-Germain in their most recent home outings reads well on paper but the star-studded visitors had 21 shots, ten of which were on target, and on a different day would have ran out convincing winners.

Clermont’s three home games prior to that saw them beaten 4-2 by Monaco and suffer defeats to nil against Metz and Nantes, suggesting the celebrations of last weekend may be short-lived.

Nice, in contrast to second-bottom Clermont, are going great guns in Ligue 1 and they remain unbeaten after nine games, trailing league leaders Monaco by only one point.
