Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Club Brugge have scored in nine of their last 10 Champions League home matches, but they are not bullet proof defensively, with both teams netting in five of their most recent 12 fixtures in all competitions. Atletico Madrid on the other hand have only kept one clean sheet in their last seven UCL away games, but have scored in seven of their nine outings this season

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

Club Brugge are incredibly hard to beat at home, going a dozen matches there without defeat, including a 1-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen. Atleti though have won five times in nine outings, losing just three. This game looks too close to call

Club Brugge vs Atletico Madrid Predictions

  • Club Brugge have only failed to score in one of their last 10 Champions League games
  • Both teams have netted in four of Atletico Madrid’s last six fixtures
  • Club Brugge are on a run of 12 home matches without defeat

Can Club Brugge keep going?

Club Brugge are undeniably one of the surprise packages of the Champions League, winning their opening group games against Bayer Leverkusen (1-0) and Porto (4-0).

Those two results mean they have scored in nine of their last 10 fixtures in the competition, as well as 12 of their 13 outings this season.

Carl Hoefkens’ side do have a few issues at the other end of the pitch though, with both teams netting in five of their last dozen outings, while their last 19 Champions League games have yielded only three clean sheets.

Atletico need a win

Atletico Madrid sit three points behind Club Brugge in Group B, as after beating Porto in their opening game, they lost 2-0 at Bayern Leverkusen before the international break.

Diego Simeone’s side, who beat Sevilla 2-0 at the weekend, have seen both teams score in four of their last six games, as well as five of their last 11 outings in this competition.

Clean sheets have been particularly hard to come by in away European games, managing just one in seven outings, with both teams netting in five of the last dozen.

I predict that both teams will score in this game, but I think Atleti will find it tough to get a win, selecting 1-1 as a correct score prediction.
