Colchester vs Newport County Predictions

Inconsistent Colchester

Colchester have pulled themselves away from the bottom two lately thanks to a couple of wins in their last three league games, but they remain in 19th place in the table, largely down to their inability to keep clean sheets.

Hayden Mullins’ side have not kept a clean sheet in their last six league fixtures, while only once in nine league outings at the Weston Homes Community Stadium have they managed to prevent their opposition from scoring.

Their saving grace is they have started finding the back of the net. Having scored just once in their opening four home league games, United have bagged eight goals in their last five games in Essex.

Newport Hard To Beat On The Road

Despite some managerial upheaval this season, Newport remain a tough opposition and have been defeated just three times in their ten away league games this season.

They are, in fact, unbeaten in their last four league games on the road, but as with Colchester, keeping clean sheets is a problem – County have registered just one of them in their last eleven fixtures away from Rodney Parade.

James Rowberry’s side are also scoring a decent amount though, hitting the back of the net sixteen times in their last seven league games.

Given their respective firepower and flaky defences, I expect both teams to score in this one, but the form book suggests it will be tight, so I am predicting a 1-1 draw.
