Colchester vs Plymouth Argyle Predictions
- Colchester have been undefeated in their last 8 home matches.
- Plymouth have been undefeated in their last 6 matches.
- Plymouth have scored in 71% of their away matches.
An end of a run
Colchester United will be disappointed their excellent undefeated streak came to an end last time out against Cambridge United. The hosts went on a 15 match undefeated streak which saw them put plenty of points on the board and put themselves in a position where promotion is certainly on the cards.
However, despite the undefeated streak, there were one or two small gripes that needed to be addressed and the defeat was perhaps on the cards. Prior to the defeat, the hosts most recent performances saw them draw far too many of their matches and this was largely down to being unable to find the back of the net on a regular basis.
The form team
Having came into the season with hopes high of an immediate return to League 1, Plymouth are pretty much where they expected to be at the moment. The visitors are now into the top three and with two games in hand on the current league leaders, Swindon Town, they will have aspirations of being promoted in the best way possible come the end of the season.
Plymouth certainly come into Saturday’s game with plenty of momentum behind them and they’ve been playing well recently. Indeed, they’ve now won 12 of their last 16 league outings and having dropped just 2 points over their last 6 matches, their current form is that of title winners.
The hosts will have to be careful
The form book certainly suggests this one to be a pretty interesting affair. On the one hand, you have a Colchester United side who are extremely difficult to beat, but who have been faltering a little lately. Whereas on the other hand you have a Plymouth Argyle side who are flying at the moment but need to do a little better on their travels. However, the visitors form is simply too hard to ignore and we fully expect them to add another three points to their title charge this Saturday.
In terms of a correct score tip, both of these sides feature highly in the best defensive records in the division so goals may be a little hard to come by. However, the hosts have only scored twice in their last four and have conceded in two thirds of their home matches. This, combined with the fact that Plymouth have scored 14 times in their last six matches, suggests that backing a 2-0 away win is the way to go.
