Draw

Reason for tip

DR Congo have drawn three of their last six games in all competitions. Meanwhile,  Zambia have drawn six of their last seven AFCON finals matches and held Cameroon to a 1-1 scoreline in their final pre-tournament friendly.

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

Congo have not conceded more than once in 11 of their last 12 games, including their last six competitive appearances. But they are not big scorers either. Meanwhile, Zambia looked solid enough in their warm-up draw with Cameroon – one of two such 1-1 scorelines they have had in their last six games.

Patson Daka To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Patson Daka has scored six goals in his last four international appearances. He is Zambia’s talisman up front and can also boast six goal involvements (four goals, two assists) in seven Championship appearances for Leicester this term.

Congo DR vs Zambia Predictions

  • DR Congo have drawn three of their last six games in all competitions
  • Zambia have drawn six of their last seven AFCON finals matches
  • Patson Daka has scored six goals in his last four international appearances

Group F scenario suggests stalemate could be on the cards

A stalemate could be on the cards when DR Congo and Zambia meet in their first AFCON Group F fixture on Wednesday.

These two closely-matched teams look set to battle it out for second place in a group that also includes World Cup semi-finalists Morocco and tournament minnows Tanzania – the highest and lowest-ranked nations in the competition according to Fifa.

That scenario lessens the chance of either team pushing for a positive result here as history tells us that both will play safe and try to secure their passage to the knockout phase in the other two games.

Dangerous Daka can dent Leopards’ defence

The Leopards were able to make it through to the last-16 with just one win in 2019 before they lost in a penalty shoot-out to Madagascar after a 2-2 draw.

Drawing in AFCON finals has become a habit for Zambia too with the Chipolopolo recording six such stalemates in their last seven appearances, the other game coming within a couple of minutes of being another.

Zambia have lively forwards and, although a low-scoring draw is anticipated, Patson Daka is worth a punt to get on the scoresheet at some time. The Leicester striker has bagged six times in his last four appearances for his country.
