Cordoba vs Cadiz Predictions

This Sunday’s clash is an all-Andalusian affair although it is only really classed as a derby by Spanish standards with over 150 miles separating the two historic cities. Cordoba are the side with more recent memories of the top flight but they find themselves in a relegation scrap this term while Cadiz have top flight ambitions although currently find themselves hovering just below the top six.

In fact they are currently in 9th, exactly where they finished last season although they were only actually 3 points below Valladolid who went on to win promotion and are currently thriving in the top flight. Cadiz are currently one of the form teams in the Segunda with four straight wins in all competitions heading into this match in a run that includes a shock win over Espanyol in the Copa del Rey.

Cordoba are another side who have made it through to the Copa del Rey last 32 but a 1st Leg home defeat to Getafe suggests they will fall at this hurdle. They could use the cash from a decent cup run after a troubled summer which saw them offload some key players and saw their coach resign on the eve of the new campaign. It’s tempting to say that José Ramón Sandoval inherited a sinking ship when he took charge and he’s struggled to get things moving in the right direction.

They have at least started getting a few results at home but a record of just 2 league wins all season, the joint lowest in the division suggests they may struggle against in-form opposition. Cadiz come into this game following back-to-back away wins having seen off Zaragoza in the cup and Lugo in the Segunda Division. Backing Cadiz Draw No Bet could be worth a punt as the visitors seek a 5th straight win in all competitions.

There does look to be a good chance we will see goals at each end though. Cadiz are yet to keep an away clean sheet this term in the league and 67% of those games have seen both teams score. Cordoba meanwhile have the division’s worst defensive record but have netted in 86% of their home league games despite their overall struggles.

That pretty strongly suggests there will be a goal in this for the hosts and backing Both Teams to Score also appeals here.
