      Corinthians vs Coritiba Predictions

Corinthians had a rather difficult start to the season, but after winning only two of their opening five games they have been rampant.

They are currently on a seven match unbeaten streak in the Serie A, and they have won six of these games. They have only lost one of their last 25 league encounters.

This has rocketed them to the top of the Serie A table, and they are now 11 points clear of their closest rivals Atletico Mineiro with just 15 points left to play for.

Should Atletico lose their match against Figureinse, then a draw would be enough for Corinthians to effectively seal the title due to their vastly superior goal difference.

They couldn’t have hoped for a more winnable game to try and seal the title either. They triumphed over their title rivals 3-0 away from home last weekend, and they now get to host relegation contenders Coritiba.

The visitors sit in 18th position with just 34 points from their 33 games so far. They are just a point away from safety though, so a win on Saturday could lift them out of the drop zone.

But Coritiba have lost five of their last six games in the Serie A, with a draw against fellow strugglers Figureinse being their only positive result since September.

Corinthians haven’t lost any of the last seven meetings between these sides, but they will be worried about the fact that they have drawn their previous three games against Coritiba.

But I just can’t look beyond Corinthians for this one. They are in excellent overall form and they have won 14 of their 16 home Serie A matches this season.

Corinthians have only conceded eight goals at home this season, coming out with an average of 0.5 goals conceded per game. They have also kept a clean sheet in four of their last five home matches.

Coritiba have only scored ten times away from home in the Serie A, so I think odds of 5/6 for Corinthians to Win to Nil are pretty good value. I also think a Corinthians -1 Asian Handicap Win at 1.625 are very good value considering the home side have won by two or more goals in five of their last seven games.
