Cork City vs Sligo Rovers Predictions

Sligo Rovers should be too strong for a plucky if limited Cork City at Turner’s Cross

Neale Fenn has little time to get things right with a Cork team that is a mixture of veterans and kids. They have scored one goal in the league so far, creating next to nothing in many of their games, whereas Sligo come to Leeside full of confidence.

It was quite a feat for Liam Buckey’s men to beat both Derry and Shelbourne, both of them much better than Cork, with comfort since resuming action. They have a real goal threat now in the shape of Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe, Ronan Coughlan and Ryan De Vries.

Recent Sligo signing Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe was top scorer in the SSE Airtricity League last season and is a reason to back Rovers.

Cork will have to defend deep for much of the game and Sligo have the guile to unlock the home rearguard. In contrast, City will surely struggle to cause problems, especially against a really solid Rovers defence.

Sligo have scored two goals in each of their last two matches and won both which points us to a bet on a 2-0 away win, particularly as Cork have only one league goal scored.
