Costa Rica looked like a side heading straight home after their 7-0 battering by Spain on the opening day, but they recovered well to defeat Japan in the last round. That result leaves Costa Rica on the cusp of qualification, although they will need a favour from Spain if they’re to do so with a draw!

Costa Rica lost their opening two games in the 2018 World Cup before going on to put in a spirited performance to draw 2-2 with Switzerland in their final game, so we expect to see some more of that battling spirit from them here.
