Luton to Win

Reason for tip

Luton’s performances have picked up of late and they were unlucky to lose to Championship leaders Sunderland during the week. The Hatters can return to winning ways in this one, as they will be facing a Coventry side they have a strong recent record against, while the Sky Blues are out-of-form, winning just one of their last nine games.

Luton 2-1

Reason for tip

Coventry have lost four of their last five at the CBS Arena and the three most recent of those defeats were by a 2-1 scoreline.  The Sky Blues always tend to be in games even if they lose and another narrow 2-1 loss could be on the cards against improving Luton.

Coventry vs Luton Predictions

  • Coventry have suffered defeat in four of their last five matches on home soil
  • The Sky Blues have lost six and won only once across their last nine fixtures
  • Luton are unbeaten in their last 10 meetings with Coventry

No Wembley revenge for Coventry

Coventry and Luton are meeting for the first time since the 2023 Championship play-off final, which was won by the Hatters on penalties following a 1-1 draw at Wembley.

That success extended Luton’s unbeaten run in this fixture to 10 matches, while Coventry have not secured a home victory over Saturday’s visitors since January 2007.

Two out of form teams doing battle

While their last meeting at Wembley was all about securing promotion, this clash will be between two sides battling at the wrong end of the Championship table.

Coventry will head into the weekend sitting inside the relegation zone after winning just one of their last nine matches, eight of which have come in the league, while Mark Robins has also seen his side lose four of their last five at the CBS Arena.

Luton are just two points better off than their hosts, but they were emphatic 3-0 winners over Watford last weekend and put in a more than credible performance against Championship leaders Sunderland during the week.

Rob Edwards’ side appear to be, slowly but surely, shaking off the disappointment of last season’s relegation from the Premier League and they can edge to victory in this one, with the 2-1 correct score appealing given Coventry’s last three home defeats have been by that scoreline.
