Croatia can make light work of Latvia

There is a clear gulf in class between Croatia and Latvia and that is reflected in the odds, with the hosts heavy favourites to claim a victory.

It wouldn’t be a surprise to see Croatia win by a big margin but the handicap markets don’t offer a great deal of value either – Croatia are just shy of evens with a -2 handicap – so it could be worth taking the risk on a home win with both teams to score bet.

Goals not the problem for Latvia

Latvia have lost their last four games but goals aren’t necessarily the problem as they have only failed to score in one of their last 15 games.

Over the last year they have scored in games against Iceland, Ireland and Turkey and may be able to find a way through against this Croatian backline, who have conceded in five of their last eight games including last year’s World Cup.

As such, a Croatia win and both teams to score bet looks a good way of getting value out of this mismatch but the hosts are clearly the superior side – so a 4-1 win for Croatia is the correct score selection.

Latvia have shipped nine goals in their last four games against Ireland, Wales, Turkey and Armenia. Zlatko Dalic’s men are a level above the aforementioned quartet, and if they do manage to score early it could be a very difficult evening for the Latvians so a 4-1 win looks reasonable.

Andrej Kramaric has one goal in two Euro 2024 qualifiers so far and has made a strong start to the season domestically with three goals in four games for club side Hoffenheim, so he looks the best option for any anytime scorer bet.
