      Crystal Palace vs Newcastle Predictions

Crystal Palace slumped to a lifeless 1-0 defeat at home to Sunderland on Monday evening, a result that made it just one win from their last six matches in all competitions.

Four of these six games have ended in defeat for Alan Pardew’s side, and their excellent start to the season seems like a long time ago now.

But this early season good form does mean that they are still in a respectable position in the Premier League, with their 19 point haul keeping them in 10th position in the table. A win on Saturday could see them move as high as 6th.

Newcastle have been improving recently, but they are still in dire straits as far as their league position is concerned. Some of the travelling fans might be wondering why they ever urged the board to sack Pardew as they return to see him thriving at Palace.

Newcastle have won two of their last five matches in the Premier League, drawing once and losing twice. This is a marked improvement on the eight match winless streak they endured at the beginning of the season.

Injuries are still a major concern for the declining Newcastle though. They have no less than eight players expected to miss this visit, including Cheikh Tiote, Rolando Aarons, Massadio Haidara, Karl Darlow, Steven Taylor, Tim Krul, Emmanuel Riviere, and Jack Colback.

But their recent upturn in form has seen them rise out of the drop zone, and they now sit in 17th position with a tally of ten points.

Crystal Palace didn’t turn up against Sunderland on Monday, but I think they will have learned their lesson and will put in a much better performance on Saturday. Odds of 8/11 for a Crystal Palace win look good to me, and I think a 2-1 correct score prediction at 8/1 are good value too.
