CSKA Moscow vs Bayer Leverkusen Predictions, Betting Tips and Match Previews

CSKA Moscow are not having the best of seasons so far. They have managed just two points from their four Champions League matches and their domestic form isn’t looking up to scratch either.

Their unconvincing 1-0 win at Arsenal Tula on Friday ended a five match winless streak in all competitions and they have only won two of their last 11 outings. Six of these have been defeats as well, leaving them 3rd in the Russia Premier League despite their early season good form.

One of their points in the Champions League did come away to Bayer Leverkusen as a quickfire double saw them come back from two early goals. However, that was back when they were in a bit of a purple patch, and Tuesday’s match could be a bit more troublesome for them. They need a win to keep any hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages alive as well.

Bayer Leverkusen lost to surprise Bundesliga leaders RB Leipzig on Friday night to end their four match winning streak, but they can still class themselves as a side in form in my eyes.

A dodgy opening couple of months of the domestic season has left them in a disappointing 9th position in the Bundesliga, but they sit 2nd in their Champions League group and can guarantee qualification to the knockout stages with a win on Tuesday, providing Spurs lose as well.

Bayer Leverkusen’s prize asset is most definitely Javier Hernandez. The former Manchester United striker has scored six goals in all competitions this season and was only used as a substitute on Friday, so he will be fresh for this one. Five of his six goals have come away from home as well, so he’s an excellent choice for our anytime goalscorer predictions.

The visitors have been a bit inconsistent on the road though, largely thanks to their defence. They have scored in all nine of their away days this season but have conceded in eight of them, whilst CSKA Moscow have seen both teams score in half of their home games. This makes a prediction of Both Teams to Score at odds of 3/4 look like a good option. I am backing Bayer Leverkusen to get the three points though, so I’m going for a 2-1 correct score predictions at 8/1.
