Cuiaba vs Internacional Predictions

  • Cuiabá are three points off the relegation zone but are unbeaten in 11 of their 16 home Serie A games this season.
  • The visitors have struggled on the road this season, winning just four and are winless in their last four away games.
  • Internacional have scored just once in their last four away games whilst the hosts have not conceded in any of their last five competitive home games.

Struggling hosts relying on home form

The hosts were dealt a narrow 3-2 defeat in their last match away to Copa Libertadores chasing Corinthians and they now must face a side who are also chasing a place in next season’s elite competition in the shape of Internacional. Manager Jorginho’s side have struggled this season and sit just three points clear of the relegation zone, meaning they need to pick up points on a regular basis to ensure their safety. However, they have made themselves very difficult to beat on home soil, losing just five of their 16 matches at the Arena Pantanal and they might spring a surprise here considering Internacional have struggled on the road.

The visitors claimed a 2-1 home victory over midtable side Athletico Paranaense in their last outing and it was a result that keeps them in touch with Copa Libertadores qualification spots. They need those above them to drop points so it is integral that they keep winning if they want to jump up into the top six spots. It won’t be easy considering their opponents are fighting for their survival but it makes for an exciting game in prospect.

Tentative affair at the Arena Pantanal

There’s a lot on the line for each club respectively and a loss would deal their respective ambitions a huge blow. We think this will be a tight game with both teams fearful of losing, it’s hard to see both teams going all out for the win and creating chances galore. We don’t think both teams will get on the scoresheet and a late winner is plausible for a side so strong at home.
