Denmark vs Albania Predictions
The boat has been rocked in what many thought would be one of the simpler Euro 2016 qualifying groups. Albania’s opening win against Portugal followed later by a draw with Denmark has blown Group I open and makes the next couple of games extremely interesting.
Traditionally minnows in qualifying competitions, a win on Friday evening would send Albania top of their group and set up another critical encounter on Monday night against Portugal. This side has been remarkably consistent. They battled hard for points against Portugal and Denmark in their opening two games, but then showcased their attacking prowess and depth with some good performances in friendlies and a 2-1 win against Armenia.
Travelling to Denmark won’t be easy, but this is squad has been growing in confidence and there’s a growing momentum behind their surprising campaign.
Without upsetting the form book, Denmark have been unspectacular. They took care of business in back-to-back games against Serbia, but a quick assessment of their qualification prospects would suggest that this game is almost do or die for them.
They haven’t been to three out of the last five major football tournaments and will want to set that record right, especially in a European championship field that has expanded to 24 sides.
Three Reasons for Betting Tips
1. Albania are tough to crack
They are capable of opening things up at times, but Gianni de Biasi’s side are just as likely to sit back and make things difficult, just as they did against Portugal. We don’t think that the Danes will find it easy to break this game open.
2. Friendly form proves Albania are real deal
Albania finished fifth in their Euro 2012 qualifying, 12 points adrift from a playoff spot even. However, they won a friendly against France in June and are continuing to prove that their arrival as a prominent force is no fluke, they’re the real deal.
3. Uninspiring Denmark?
Denmark are a decent side, but they inspire very little beyond being ‘decent’. We’re not convinced that they’re going to break down Albania and seize control of this group, even on home soil.
