Denmark vs Congo DR Predictions
- DR Congo have never beaten European opponents or scored against them in four previous internationals
- Fewer than three goals have been scored in 10 of DR Congo’s last 11 matches
- Denmark’s motivation for an away friendly at this time of year may be low
Leopards won’t change their spots for Danish clash
DR Congo are scheduled to play the first of two World Cup warm-up matches against Denmark in Liege on Wednesday and it is unlikely to be a game that will live long in the memory.
With the Leopards a fortnight away from facing the much bigger challenge of Portugal in Houston and the Danes winding down after a hard season, goals may be at a premium.
Sébastien Desabre’s side conceded only seven goals in 12 African qualifiers before shutting out Jamaica in the intercontinental playoff, which they won 1-0 in extra time. They are a solid defensive unit with plenty of hard runners in midfield to cover space, albeit without much of a goal threat up front.
Training sessions could catch up with Congo
It is hard to see them causing the Danish defence too many issues in this match, which will be played in the same city where they have been training twice a day in the build-up to the finals.
The Leopards could be a little leggy from those sessions while the majority of Denmark’s players will be desperate to begin their summer break after a long campaign of club and international football.
Backing fewer than three goals in the game makes sense given 10 of DR Congo’s last 11 games have fallen below that line. Denmark have been involved in some high-scoring contests, but the majority of those were in front of their own fans and with much more at stake. Take Brian Riemer’s men to eke out a 1-0 win in a game of few chances.
