Norway to Win

Reason for tip

Norway produced arguably the strongest World Cup qualifying performance in Europe, winning all of their eight matches, scoring 37 goals, allowing just five and beating Italy 3-0 in Oslo and 4-1 in Milan. With home advantage, they should be able to see off Sweden.

  • Norway’s 37 goals were the most of any European side in qualifying

Norway can overcome neighbours

Norway are just 25/1 to win the upcoming World Cup and the Red, White and Blue meet Sweden, who are not without a chance in the international showpiece themselves, in an intriguing Oslo friendly contest on Monday night.

Stale Solbakken’s has named his 26-man squad for the warm-up matches and summer tournament and there is quality throughout.

Erling Haaland, Jorgen Strand Larsen and Alexander Sorloth are excellent forward options, Martin Odegaard is a top-level number 10 and exciting youngster Antonio Nusa Andreas Schjelderup can operate out wide.

Sweden were awful in the group stage, but improved with Graham Potter leading the Blue and Yellow to playoff victories over Ukraine and Poland.

Clearly, neither side are likely to be at their max, with the big prize on the horizon later this month, but Norway could be worth chancing on home turf.

Solbakken’s side have lost only one of their last 14 matches, which was a narrow 2-1 friendly defeat to the Netherlands and Norway are unlikely to want to concede a proud record.
