Deportivo Las Sabanas vs Municipal Jalapa Predictions
- Deportivo Las Sabanas have won just one of their seven Nicaragua Clausura home games this season.
- The hosts have only won one of their last 14 competitive matches.
- Las Sabanas and Jalapa have both averaged 0.71 goals per game in their respective home and away Clausura matches.
- Four of Las Sabanas’ last six home games have ended as draws, with two of the last three being 1-1 scorelines.
Las Sabanas aim for strong finish to avoid relegation
Deportivo Las Sabanas missed out on the chance to move off the bottom of the Nicaraguan Clausura at the weekend, letting their 1-0 lead over Deportivo Ocotal slip with 10 minutes remaining to keep them level on points with their 9th place opponents.
This brought the hosts crashing back down to earth after they finally broke their extended winless spell last week, beating Real Madriz 2-1 to end a run of 12 competitive games without a win.
With five games remaining and eight points separating them from the last of the playoff spots, the chances of Las Sabanas progressing to the Nicaragua playoffs are slim to say the least. However, with the threat of relegation looming before them, the newly promoted side will be aiming for a strong finish to the campaign.
Jalapa set sights on the Clausura playoffs
Jalapa, meanwhile, are still in with a good shout of reaching the playoffs this season. They are currently 5th in the Clausura table, five points inside the playoff zone and only six adrift of 2nd place Real Esteli, a position that would grant them automatic qualification to the semi finals of the playoffs.
The visitors have enjoyed a positive turn of form lately, despite their 1-0 defeat at home to Chinandega at the weekend. They have won three of their last five league matches and have avoided defeat in 64% of their Clausura matches so far.
Hosts struggle to win on home soil
Away from home Jalapa’s ride has been a little rockier, but they are facing a Las Sabanas side with a real lack of winning spirit on Wednesday night. The hosts have won just one of their seven home games in the Nicaragua Clausura and have only won five of 16 since their promotion to the top flight last summer.
Even with the visitor’s poor away record on show, backing them in the double chance market looks the way to go here due to Deportivo Las Sabanas’ torrid record of winning on home soil.
We’re also opting for a 1-1 correct score prediction. Four of Las Sabanas’ last six home games have ended all square, with two of the last three being 1-1 scorelines. Meanwhile, both sides have averaged 0.71 goals per game in their respective home and away Clausura games.
