Deportivo La Coruna vs Espanyol Betting Tips

Deportivo have really just continued on from their excellent finish to last season which helped them to beat the drop. They’ve lost just 1 of their 9 Primera Division matches under Victor Sanchez and ironically it was perhaps the easiest of the bunch when they suffered a 3-2 home loss to newly promoted Sporting Gijon last time out.

Matches involving the Galician club since Sanchez took charge have tended to be entertaining with both teams scoring in 7 of the 9 and Depor only failing to net once. There have been 3 or more goals in each of their last 3 matches which included a 3-1 win at Rayo Vallecano and a 2-1 win away to Real Betis on Thursday.

There have been quite a few goals in games involving Espanyol this season too. They conceded 6 at home to Real Madrid but have responded well to that winning their subsequent 2 matches including a 3-2 win at Real Sociedad.

With both sides exceeding expectations there is not really a lot for either club to lose here and they should be positive and go hunting the 3 points. That could again lead to goals and at 6/5 there is certainly value in backing there to be over 2.5 goals in this one.

Espanyol are perhaps a little fortunate to have 3 wins to their name already. They were impressive against Valencia in midweek but their victory at Sociedad hinged on a 1st half sending off of Jeronimo Rullia and subsequent penalty decision. They were also a little lucky to beat Getafe on the opening day.

They have been a little inconsistent really and it’s hard to see them producing another performance of the same calibre just a few days after the Valencia game. Deportivo have looked good and are perhaps the most improved side in the league so consider backing them to win 2-1 at 8/1.
