Derby County vs Birmingham Predictions
Derby have hit a little bit of a sticky patch and one that has seen them lose ground on Middlesbrough, who they now trail by 6 points having played a game more. Their 1-1 home draw with Reading on Tuesday means they have gone 3 without a win in the league now and Hull’s win the next day meant the Tigers leapfrogged the Rams and into 2nd place.
Steve Clement’s side could really do with a win here but it won’t come easy against a stubborn Birmingham side who appear to be over their slump in form. The Blues have lost just 1 of their last 7 in the league and have taken 7 points from their last 3 matches to push themselves back up into play-off contention.
Their ability to grind out results at tough places on the road has been particularly impressive. They are one of the three sides to get a result at the Riverside this season when they drew 0-0 there last month. They have lost only 3 of their last 15 away games in the league and picked up another good point at Nottingham Forest in midweek.
They are in the East Midlands again here but won’t fear Derby and at 1.975, you can back Birmingham when starting with a +1.0 Asian Handicap, which looks a smart move given they’ve drawn on their last two trips to the iPro Stadium and this should be another close game.
Derby have dropped points 6 times at home already this season, which is a worry when you consider both Hull and Middlesbrough have only done so on 3 occasions. 5 of those 6 were draws and this could well be another one for the Rams and at 13/2 you can back it to finish 1-1.
