Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Both teams have scored in all three of Derby’s games this season and they have shipped eight goals across their two league fixtures. Bristol City have scored six goals across their three games and created plenty of chances despite drawing a blank in a goalless draw with Charlton last time out but they tend to struggle for clean sheets on their travels, so backing both teams to score looks a strong play in Friday’s Championship fixture.

Bristol City 2-1

Reason for tip

Bristol City have made a solid start to the season with four points from two games and an EFL Cup win, while Derby are still seeking their first points. The visitors can edge this game and with goals at both ends predicted a 2-1 Robins victory has a chance.

Anis Mehmeti To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Anis Mehmeti hit 12 goals in 44 league games last season and is already up and running for the new campaign after a strike in Bristol City’s win over Sheffield United. Mehmeti has had six attempts in total across his two league outings and he looks a candidate for an anytime effort at Pride Park.

Derby vs Bristol City Predictions

  • Both teams have scored in all three of Derby’s games this season.
  • Bristol City have conceded in seven consecutive Championship away games.
  • The Robins are unbeaten after three games (W2, D1).

Bristol City head to Derby for Friday fixture

Derby County are still looking for their first points of the new season ahead of the visit of Bristol City on Friday evening in the Championship.

The Rams went down 3-1 at Stoke in the opening round of games before slipping to a 5-3 defeat at home to Coventry, throwing away a 3-2 lead with less than 20 minutes remaining.

Bristol City made a statement with a 4-1 win at Sheffield United to open the campaign before being held to a goalless draw by Charlton at Ashton Gate last time out.

The visitors look the more likely winners, but the best starting point for this game could be backing both teams to score.

Both teams have scored in all three of Derby’s games this season and all of those fixtures came against Championship rivals, as they edged out West Brom on penalties in the EFL Cup.

The Robins may have drawn a blank at home to Charlton but they should enjoy a bit more success against a Derby defence that has shipped eight goals across their two league games. The Rams are yet to draw a blank and City tend to struggle for clean sheets away – as they have managed just one shut-out on their travels since December 9, a run stretching 17 games.

The visitors have made the better start to the season and can leave with the spoils here courtesy of a 2-1 win. Derby’s loss to Coventry was probably a bit of a freak result, given that is the first time they have conceded more than three goals in a game since February, and they can keep things more respectable this week.

Anis Mehmeti stands out as a potential scorer for Bristol City after managing 12 goals in 44 league games last season. The Albanian forward got off the mark for the current campaign in the win over the Blades and has had six attempts in total across his two league outings.
