Derby to Win @ 11/10

We use stars to rate our confidence in our tips, with 3 being most confident to 1 being the least.
Derby 2-1 @ 8/1

Reason For Derby vs Huddersfield Predictions

  • Huddersfield have lost 15 times already this season.
  • Derby have won their last 5 home games.
  • Huddersfield have lost 4 of their last 5 away trips.
  • The Rams have won 8 of their 9 home clashes with bottom-half sides to far.

Tough Gap for Rams

After last weekend, excitement was building about Derby’s position in the playoff chase. However, they are now 10 points shy of the top six following a 3-1 loss at Bristol City in midweek. That defeat was a significant blow, basically ending their playoff aspirations.

Derby are set to fall short of the top six, but can they continue their good progress? They are on the up under Phillip Cocu, with an opportunity to secure another victory when they host a poor Huddersfield side this weekend.

Opening Day Contrast

When these two sides last met, the Rams won 2-1 at the John Smith’s. That looked like a brilliant result for Derby, but it turned out to be the first defeat of many for Huddersfield this term. The Terriers have lost 15 times in 32 games this term, putting them in the relegation frame.

Derby also announced the upcoming arrival of Wayne Rooney on the same day, so it was a brilliant opening weekend for Cocu and his team. However, the hosts had tailed off, until they found their feet at home. That has launched them back towards the top half of the table.

Derby’s Fortress

The hosts have managed to put together a fine run, which has seen them win their last five matches at Pride Park. Overall this season they have nine home wins, with only Preston picking up more home points than Derby this season. Renewed with the arrival of Wayne Rooney, Derby now look too strong for anyone here.

Meanwhile, Huddersfield have lost four of their last five matches on the road. They were thumped at home by Cardiff in midweek, while Derby are looking great at their own ground. They’ve won eight of nine home meetings with bottom-half sides, so we’re backing them to see off the Terriers this weekend.

The Terriers have seen both teams score in 73% of their trips this term, while they have found the net in all but one of their defeats. We see them scoring against Derby in this clash, with a 2-1 home victory our correct score pick. That comes after 73% of the hosts’ victories here came by a single goal.
