Derby Double Chance (Win or Draw)

Reason for tip

Leeds have done a fine job dragging themselves away from the Premier League relegation zone over Christmas, but they have found wins hard to come by on the road and a trip to Championship Derby will not be easy.

Derby 2-1

Reason for tip

There have been at least three goals in ten of Derby’s last 14 matches and there looks a strong chance that this game will be intense and follow that pattern, so go for a 2-1 win to the Rams.

Derby vs Leeds Predictions

  • Both teams have scored in all but one of Leeds’ last 11 matches
  • Leeds have not won in their last eight away games
  • Over 2.5 goals has been a winning bet in ten of Derby’s last 14 outings

Leeds’ priorities lie elsewhere

Leeds have been doing a great job in the last few weeks dragging themselves away from relegation trouble in the Premier League, but the job is not done yet and that means a run in the FA Cup may not be among their priorities.

Daniel Farke’s side have scrapped their way to points against Liverpool (twice), Manchester United and at Brentford recently to give themselves some daylight which could have been wider had they not conceded two injury-time goals in Wednesday’s 4-3 defeat at Newcastle.

Spirits should not have been dampened too much and Farke will be delighted they are eight points ahead of the third relegation spot.

But with work still to do, the FA Cup heads down the pecking order and with no wins in eight away games for a team who have not gone beyond the fifth round for 22 years, a visit to Derby could prove a real test.

Rams pose a significant threat

The Rams sit 13th in the Championship, but such is the congested nature of the division, it would not take a sustained run of success to push them into the playoff picture.

With changes likely in the visitors line-up, they can push on, although the East Midlanders will be hampered by the absence of injured striker Carlton Morris, who has scored ten goals this season.

Derby’s 1-0 win over highflying Middlesbrough on New Year’s Day has been their only success in six Pride park outings, but they can still take advantage if Leeds are not on the ball.

The Derby or draw double result appeals as the main bet and correct-score enthusiasts may wish to take a chance on a 2-1 win for the home side.
