Derry boss will demand better after away apology

Derry City have a chance to get back on track in the title race when they host fourth-place Bohemians on Friday evening.

The sweet taste of success has eluded the Candystripes in their last three games with boss Ruaidhri Higgins going as far as to apologise to the club’s travelling fans after the 4-1 thumping by St Patrick’s Athletic at Richmond Park on Monday.

He will demand much better, particularly in defense when they host a Bohemians side also coming off an away loss. Declan Devine’s men thought they had salvaged a point at Cork City only for the hosts to score a minute after their late equaliser.

Striker could be dropped after dry spell 

The Bohs boss could be considering a change up front due to James Akintunde’s dry spell – the ex-Derry forward having scored just once in seven starts this term.

Neither of the previous league contests between these clubs in 2023 have seen a second goal scored and another low-scoring affair is predicted. But Derry usually do the business at home and can be supported for a 1-0 victory.
