Doncaster vs Exeter City Predictions
- Doncaster finished the League Two season unbeaten in 11
- Exeter won only three of their final 11 games last season
- Rovers have conceded in 13 of their last 19 league matches
Newly-promoted Rovers can continue where they left off
Doncaster are back in League One after three seasons following their League Two title-winning campaign and Rovers can get off to a positive start at home to Exeter.
Grant McCann’s side fended off their title rivals with an 11-game unbeaten run and teams that finished on a roll can often be difficult to halt.
Doncaster look settled under McCann and have worked hard to strengthen their squad over the summer while also being able to retain the services of their key players, with wideman Luke Molyneux going to prove especially important.
Rovers lost only four of their 23 home games last season and the feelgood factor surrounding the club could see them past Exeter, who limped to a 16th-placed position in League One last term.
The Grecians have lost two influential performers in Caleb Watts and Demetri Mitchell to Plymouth and Leyton Orient and they won only three of their final 11 games, signing off last season’s road campaign with a 3-1 loss at Crawley before a 3-0 defeat at Mansfield.
Exeter scored only 49 goals in 46 games last season and as things stands they look a little light in attacking areas, something Doncaster may be able to exploit.
Doncaster favour an expansive style and, having conceded in 13 of their final 19 games in League Two, a 2-1 win appeals for correct-score punters. McCann’s men won their final two games against Bradford and Notts County by that scoreline.
