Pharaohs can lord it over lost Black Stars

Egypt and Ghana face a must-not-lose second game at this year’s AFCON finals with the Pharaohs looking more capable of claiming victory than the Black Stars yet again.

The beaten finalists from two years ago are better equipped to take three points from this key fixture because their star player is fit and firing while Ghana’s is not.

Mohamed Salah has been on the winning side in his last two appearances against Ghana and warmed up for this clash with a goal and an assist in Egypt’s 2-2 draw with Mozambique. The game was full of chances for both teams, but Salah’s quality helped his side claim a point.

Kudus being missed 

Ghana were without injured Mohammed Kudus for their opener and it showed as Cape Verde ran out 2-1 winners to pile huge pressure on Chris Hughton and his squad.

Kudus looks unlikely to return to the starting line-up for this game, which firmly tips the balance in the Pharaohs’ favour. They have won 12 of their 15 games under Rui Vitoria and look to have a  clear idea of what they are trying to do – unlike Ghana under Hughton.
