Napoli Over 1.5 Team Goals

Reason for tip

Napoli were the only side to score 20 goals in the group stage, while they’ve been in stellar scoring form all season. The Partenopei have scored at least twice in eight straight games and they’ve found the net twice or more in 11 of their last 14 away games.

Napoli 2-1

Reason for tip

Napoli have won each of their last four away games, scoring at least twice in each. Frankfurt lost two of their six group games, including a 3-0 home loss to Sporting. However, the hosts have scored in each of their last nine home matches, so back them to get a goal in a defeat.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia had a hand in five goals in the group stage and the explosive winger has scored in four of his last five appearances for Napoli, including each of his last three games.

Eintracht Frankfurt vs Napoli Predictions

  • Napoli were the only side in Europe to score 20 goals in the group stage
  • The visitors have scored at least twice in their last eight games in all competitions
  • Napoli have scored two or more goals in 11 of their last 14 away trips
  • Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has been involved in eight goals across his last five games, scoring in each of his last three appearances

Two outsiders for the trophy

This season’s Champions League looks to be opening up, with many of the biggest sides hitting a poor spell of form at the wrong time. The draw has also opened things up, with four of the top-six favourites before last week’s first matches of 2023 meeting in the first knockout round.

That could pave the way for a dark horse to make a good run and the two best candidates meet in this last 16 clash on Tuesday. Eintracht Frankfurt have experience in Europe after winning the Europa League last term, while Napoli have been a revelation both at home and in Europe this term.

Their last 16 looks set to be one of the highlights of the tournament so far, but who will gain an advantage in the first leg this week?

Napoli shaping up as serious contenders

Napoli announced themselves on the European stage this term with a 4-1 win over Liverpool, going on to top their group ahead of last season’s finalists. The Partenopei made an outstanding start across all competitions, but it was thought their rising Scudetto aspirations would end up derailing them in Europe.

As the Champions League restarts, Napoli have managed to establish a huge 15-point lead in Serie A. They can afford a tilt at Europe’s biggest competition, especially as they’ve put together a breathtakingly strong side which is likely to be ravaged in the summer transfer market.

Napoli have an elite attacking lineup, they were the only team to feature three players who were involved in five group-stage goals. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (two goals, three assists) was among them and he heads into this clash in fantastic form. The Georgian winger has been involved in eight goals in his last five games, scoring in three in a row. Back him to notch away to Frankfurt this week.

Free-scoring Partenopei to make their mark

Napoli are the highest-scoring side in Serie A and they were the only team to hit 20 goals in the group stage of this competition. They head into Tuesday’s game having scored twice in each of their last eight matches, while they’ve notched two or more in 11 of their last 14 trips in all competitions.

Napoli have plenty of attacking options, with Giacomo Raspadori and Gio Simeone their top scorers in the competition with four each, while they also have Victor Osimhen who has found the net 18 times in Serie A this term. The incredible threat they pose should trouble a Frankfurt side who lost 3-2 at Tottenham and 3-0 at home to Sporting in the last round.

Back Frankfurt to come unstuck against the Napoli winning machine, with the visitors great value to continue their scoring streak. I’m backing the Partenopei to score two or more in this trip, with a 2-1 away win my correct score prediction.
