Elche Fancied to Edge Out Fellow Strugglers

Tuesday’s La Liga action at Estadio Martinez Valero pits together two sides in atrocious overall form, but it’s Elche who are given the vote after losing just one of their last five home starts.

These teams look destined to be involved in a long and gruelling relegation battle this season and both go into this midweek clash without a victory in seven following a pair of comprehensive 3-1 defeats at the weekend.

Elche were no match for Atletico Madrid at Wanda Metropolitano on Saturday and have faded badly since their promising start to life back in the top flight, however, they have at least managed to scrap out four draws since their last win against Valencia (2-1) here in late October.

Jorge Almiron’s men have been beaten just once in their last five at Estadio Martinez Valero (W1, D3), so they look a good punt here in the double chance market. Opponents Osasuna have lost all of their last seven and remain rock-bottom after Villarreal brushed them aside at El Sadar on Saturday.

Osasuna have also picked up just a single point from their last five La Liga starts on the road, and the fact Jagoba Arrasate’s have failed to score in four of those outings gives us further reason to believe that Elche can edge this Tuesday’s contest.
