Genoa to Win

Reason for tip

Empoli have lost three of their last five at home, failing to score in each defeat, as well as losing back-to-back matches before Christmas. Genoa have lost once under Patrick Vieira and are on a three-game unbeaten run on the road, winning twice.

Genoa 1-0

Reason for tip

Each of Empoli’s last three home defeats have been ‘to nil’, including 1-0 reversals to Torino and Napoli. Genoa have kept three clean sheets in their last four fixtures, while two of their three away wins this season have been by a 1-0 margin.

Empoli vs Genoa Predictions

  • Empoli have lost three of their last five at home
  • Genoa are unbeaten in three on the road
  • The hosts have netted just twice at Stadio Carlo Castellani this season

Can Empoli end miserable home record?

Empoli have endured a pretty terrible time of things at Stadio Carlo Castellani this season, losing three of their eight league matches and winning just once.

Supporters will therefore be hoping for some festive cheer from their side, especially after a run of three defeats in four outings since the back end of November.

As such, they have slumped into the bottom half of Serie A, and the club’s strikers are providing little be positive about.

Francesco Ghelfi’s side have netted just twice at home in the league, while three of their last five there have ended in a defeat ‘to nil’.

Genoa looking to take advantage

Opponents Genoa will look to pile on the misery, and they have every reason to be positive, given ten of their 16 points this season have been accumulated on the road.

That comes courtesy of three wins and a draw from seven matches, despite only netting five times themselves in away fixtures.

Those wins have come at Monza, Parma and Udinese, while the Griffins, unbeaten in three on their travels, have also only lost once since Patrick Vieira’s arrival, a 2-1 reversal to high-flying Napoli last time out.

I predict that Genoa will win this game, with a 1-0 score my correct score prediction.
