England vs Romania Predictions

• England have won their last five games, conceding just one goal in the process.
• Romania have lost six of their last ten matches, including each of their last three.
• England have won 14 of their last 15 home matches.

Three Lions welcome late arrivals

England’s preparations for Euro 2020 continue on Sunday as they welcome Romania to the Riverside Stadium just a week before heading to Wembley for their opening group game, and another routine win for the Three Lions is expected.

They dispatched of fellow Euro 2020 hopefuls Austria in midweek in a rather 1-0 win, but there were glimmers of fluidity from the hosts. Jack Grealish in particular had a good game, although the evening was overshadowed by Trent Alexander-Arnold’s late injury that has ruled him out of the tournament.

Now that those players involved in the Europa League and Champions League finals have joined up with the squad we should get a better idea of how Gareth Southgate will line up for the tournament on Sunday, and the involvement of the likes of Phil Foden, Marcus Rashford and Mason Mount should inject some excitement into England’s play.

Out-of-form Romanians lacking quality

Romania head to the Riverside on the back of a 2-1 defeat to Georgia on Wednesday and it’s no surprise we won’t be seeing the visitors at Euro 2020.

They lost in the playoff against Iceland and have since lost to Norway, Austria, Germany, Armenia and Georgia. The quality just isn’t there for the visitors, with Rangers midfielder Ianis Hagi perhaps the most talented in the squad.

England set for comfortable win in Middlesbrough

Anything but a comfortable win on Sunday would cast major doubt over England’s Euro 2020 credentials and I’m not expecting the Three Lions to falter here.

They have won their last five games and conceded just one goal in the process and while Romania have scored a few of late they have generally been against very poor opposition. England to win to nil is my bet, along with a routine 2-0 correct score prediction.
