Sevilla could be back in the groove

Espanyol and Sevilla are separated by just two points in La Liga after 12 games but it could be the visitors who move into the loftier position after Monday’s meeting at the RCDE Stadium.

Sevilla recovered from three successive league defeats by capturing a 1-0 win against Osasuna in their final game before the international break and that should have boosted confidence as they go in search of their fourth league away win of the season following victories over Rayo Vallecano, Alaves and Girona.

And they could have chanced upon Espanyol at just the right time.

Espanyol’s bubble may have burst

The hosts shook up the early weeks of La Liga and lost just two of their opening ten league matches of the campaign.

However, defeats to Alaves and Villarreal before the recess could have brought them back down to earth and they could be vulnerable against a team who know just what it takes to claim three points on the road in the Spanish top flight.

A home win is far from guaranteed, so Sevilla offer some great value to add to their list of impressive road wins, and they can replicate the 2-0 victory the Yellow Submarine posted as the last visitors to the RCDE.
