Espanyol should be backed to beat Valladolid at Power8 Stadium on Friday. The visitors have lost their last four away games in La Liga and could be heading for more road hell.

Espanyol are 18th in the table, one place and one point above Valladolid, with both teams having won four games and lost 11.

Backing the home side in games between bottom-half teams would have shown a profit of 8.75 points to a one-point level stake this season and they can once again excel in a match against a relegation candidate.

Valladolid have two wins and four defeats from their last six league games. They responded to a 3-0 loss to Girona by beating Real Betis on Saturday.

However, Valladolid’s struggles up front are a major concern. They have failed to score in three of their last four away games and, this season, they have just six goals in nine matches on the road – an average of 0.7 goals per game.

Valladolid’s issues on the road are also worrying. They have tasted victory just once in their last ten away games and have lost 12 of their last 15 on the road.

Valladolid have the upper hand in recent meetings, but Espanyol could win this one. A 2-1 home victory is the correct score pick – two of Espanyol’s four league wins have come via that scoreline and Valladolid have lost five times by a 2-1 margin this season.
