      Tip Reasoning

It’s been a fairly poor start to the season for both of these sides and each of them have just the one win to their name. Real Valladolid’s win came on the opening day of the season, can they take all three points here?

History suggests they have a tough task on their hands to do so, they’ve won just once in their last 12 visits to the RCDE Stadium. They did manage great results in their first two away games of the season, winning at Real Betis before picking up a point in a 1-1 draw with Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu.

The following two games on their travels however have seen them lose to Levante and Villarreal without getting on the scoresheet and conceding two in the process.

Espanyol will be disappointed with their results at home so far this campaign. They were the 6th best home team in the league last season, but three defeats in a row to start this term sees them pointless on their own patch. They’ve also only scored one goal in those three matches so we think a lot is pointing towards this being a draw.

Real Valladolid have won just 3 of their last 15 away matches in La Liga and given they tend to struggle to pick up the three points when visiting Espanyol, it’s hard to be confident of them capitalising on the hosts current home woes.

They had a pretty poor return away from home in the league last season too, they managed just 16 goals in 19 games, putting them in the bottom four in that category.

Considering Espanyol’s home defeats have come at the hands of Sevilla, Granada and Real Sociedad who have all had solid starts to the season, they will see this as arguably their easiest home game of this term so far. Having managed just four goals all season though, their lack of conviction in front of goal has to be a worry.

They haven’t exactly been water-tight at the back either. They’ve conceded eight goals in their three home games this season so we can see the away side managing to get on the score sheet here. It’s tough to see them having enough to pick up the win though and with Espanyol’s scoring troubles, we think they’ll manage just the sole goal too, therefore our correct score prediction is 1-1.
