      Estoril -1

      Reason for tip

Estoril won both meetings with Estrela last season by an aggregate score of 8-2 and finished 17 points better off than their opponents in the final standings. The Canaries should have more than enough to win this one with something to spare.

      Estoril 4-0

      Reason for tip

Estoril ended last season by beating Estrela 4-0 and they can repeat that trick on Monday. The Canaries also scored four goals in the away meeting between the two sides and look a cut above their opponents from Amadora.

      Estoril vs Estrela Amadora Predictions

      • Estoril finished 17 points above Estrela in last season’s Primeira Liga
      • The Canaries won both meetings between these sides last season by an aggregate score of 8-2
      • Estrela ended last season with the worst away record in the Portuguese top flight

      Estoril prospering under Cathro

Ian Cathro enjoyed a solid first season in charge of Estoril, leading them to eighth place, and they will expect to make a strong start to the new campaign at home to an Estrela side that finished 17 points below them in the final standings.

Estoril certainly had Estrela’s number last season, winning both meetings by an aggregate score of 8-2, as they followed up a 4-2 away success in January with May’s 4-0 win at the Estadio Antonio Coimbra da Mota.

The Canaries have now won three on the bounce against their visitors from Amadora, who only preserved their top-flight status last season by two points.

      More away-day blues for Estrela

Estrela ended last season poorly, losing five of their final six games, and their away record was poor all campaign, as they collected just 10 points on the road, leaving them with the worst away record in the division.

Jose Faria’s side have not won away to Estoril since 2007 and after conceding eight goals across their two meetings with Monday’s opponents last season, another heavy defeat could be on the cards.
