Everton vs Luton Predictions
- Everton go into the game seeking a third straight win.
- Luton have just one point to show from five league games.
- The Hatters have conceded eight goals in three away games, scoring just once themselves.
In-form Everton host Hatters
Everton appear to have recovered from their poor start to the new season and are seeking a third straight win in all competitions when they host Luton on Saturday.
The Hatters picked up their first point of the campaign with a 1-1 draw with Wolves last time out but were then on the wrong end of a giant killing as they went down 1-0 at Exeter in the EFL Cup in midweek, albeit with a rotated starting XI.
Luton may be off the mark after that point against Wolves but in truth that is perhaps their most disappointing result of the campaign and the alarm bells will be ringing, if they weren’t already.
Wolves played the entire second half with 10 men and the fact Luton couldn’t find a way to beat a direct rival at home in those circumstances doesn’t bode well for the remainder of the campaign.
Everton can continue fine form
Everton are a fairly short price to win this game and I was considering backing the hosts to cover a -1 handicap, but as Luton have been competitive in their recent games I’m taking a safer approach here and simply going for the home win as the main bet.
Everton won 3-1 at Brentford in the league last week and backed that up win an impressive 2-1 EFL Cup win at Aston Villa. Sean Dyche’s men are yet to win at home and haven’t even scored at Goodison the league yet but the visit of Luton looks like a real opportunity to pick up their first home points.
Luton have lost all four of their away games across all competitions and have scored just one goal in three road fixtures in the league, conceding eight themselves.
Clean sheet for Everton
A 2-0 win for Everton looks a reasonable correct score prediction as Luton have failed to score in their last two away league games and even with a one-man advantage they only managed one goal against Wolves last time out, while Everton have hit nine goals across their last five games in all competitions.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored from the bench against Brentford and backed that up with another effort against Villa. He should have done enough across those two games to start on Saturday and the Everton striker looks a good contender for an anytime goal.
