      Excelsior vs Heracles Predictions

Excelsior sit two points and two places above the relegation zone heading into Saturday’s home game against Heracles. The hosts could do with a victory after picking up four points from a possible eighteen heading into this game, but so could their guests Heracles who have only managed three points during that same period.

Excelsior took the lead away at AZ Alkmaar last weekend, but ended up narrowly beaten 2-1. Mahmudov put the visitors in front on the half hour mark, but AZ responded with an equaliser through Til just nine minutes later. The pair went in level at the break and as the game moved into stoppage time it looked as if Excelsior had done enough to earn a decent point on the road, however a late strike from Johnsen earned AZ the victory. Excelsior were outplayed for the majority of the match and AZ deserved to win the game, but losing so late on after defending so well is very frustrating for any team, especially one struggling at the wrong end of the table.

PSV completed dominated Heracles in their own backyard last time out, with the league leaders taking the lead through Bergwijn after twelve minutes. Schwaab added another goal in the thirty-third minute for the visitors, before Heracles found themselves a man down when Drost was sent-off in stoppage time. Full back Dumfries added a third goal with eleven minutes left on the clock, and after Heracles had their second man sent-off, Czyborra late on, Pereiro wrapped up the 4-0 win by converting a penalty.

When Excelsior and Heracles last met back in April the pair played out a 2-2 draw. Hosts Excelsior went two goals in front thanks to strikes from Messaoud and van Duinen, and looked to have done enough to win the game heading into stoppage time. However, Jamiro struck twice in the space of two minutes to salvage Heracles a point when it looked like they were down and out.

Excelsior just edge the form guide heading into this weekends latest encounter between the two clubs, with one win, one draw, and four defeats from their last six matches. Heracles have lost five and won one during that same period and both teams are in desperate need of some consistency heading into the winter break. Messaoud top scores for the hosts with five league goals so far this season, while Peterson leads the way with nine for the visitors.

We’re confident that over 2.5 goals will be scored in this game and have backed the match to end in a 2-2 draw. The last five meetings between these two clubs have each produced over 2.5 goals.
Excelsior’s last six matches have all produced over 2.5 goals, while five of Heracles’ last six matches have also produced over 2.5 goals.
