Tip Reasoning

  • Exeter have gone six league games without a win, netting just four goals.
  • Scunthorpe have only won one of their last seven games, but that run includes four draws.
  • Exeter and Scunthorpe have each managed 10 league draws this season, only Bradford City, with 11 have managed more in League Two.

Draw specialists meet at St James’ Park

Exeter City’s promotion push is collapsing, with the Grecians going six League Two games without a win. Since October, the only triumphs managed by Matt Taylor’s men have come against struggling Carlisle and Oldham, and Saturday’s clash with relegation-battling Scunthorpe offers no guarantee of a result.

Scunthorpe have themselves won just once in seven outings, against the one club that sits below them at the bottom of the Football League, Oldham. However, four of those seven ended level, and Scunthorpe, like Exeter, have managed 10 draws already this season, more than every fourth-tier club bar Bradford.

Scunthorpe to take an important point

Although Exeter hammered Scunthorpe 4-0 back in early September, their dire run of form makes it difficult to back them, even at St James’ Park, where they’ve lost their last two games.

With Exeter’s poor form in mind, backing Scunthorpe to earn an important point, which would be their seventh draw in 14 away games, looks a decent punt. The Irons have drawn 1-1 on seven occasions this term, with a repeat looking a decent correct score prediction for Saturday.
